Living in a treehouse
We stayed in one of the resort’s signature Treehouses, i.e. our portal into another world, high above the forest floor with views of the jungle canopy in every direction and glimpses of the Pacific in the distance. The hotel design is carefully balanced between luxury and the wild: a full experience of nature through the floor-to-ceiling windows within the intimate atmosphere of your private treehouse.
Mornings here were magic. Everyday began with breakfast on our private terrace among the cacophony of morning birdsong and other jungle sounds. Most charming of all were the resident coatis and their playful antics.
COZY tip: These guys are cute but they’ll steal your breakfast!

Endless Adventures on Horseback
One & Only Mandarina is a place to explore–and what better way than on horseback. The Mandarina Polo & Equestrian Club is a great place to ride whether you are a first-timer or a seasoned equestrian.
Our ride during the day along the jungle trails and coastal paths was exhilarating but trotting along the beach at sunset—wow, bucket-list level. For those who prefer to enjoy the action from the stands, the polo matches are also good fun.
Dining with a View
The restaurants at One & Only Mandarina dazzle with their fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and insane views.
- The Jetty Beach Club. Enjoy fresh caught seafood in a private sunset dinner by the sea–our favorite spot.
- Carao. Fine Mexican cuisine with creativity and tradition and a focus on local ingredients from renowned Chef Enrique Olvera.
- Allora. A little slice of Italy–we couldn’t get enough of the sun-dried tomato pizza, the fresh mozzarella and that delicious ocean breeze.
- Alma. A Mediterranean-inspired spot, sunset cocktails and elegant dinners.
A Magical World for Kids
Mandarina is a wonderland for children too. The resort’s award-winning kids’ club, designed by Brigitte Broch, is a fairytale come to life.
Kids are invited to explore, imagine and learn in the insectary and butterfly farm among the over fifty species of trees and colorful butterflies fluttering about. Even we couldn’t resist climbing the kid’s treehouse!
